Scottish Dance Theatre Spring Tour

After a sell out show in Spring 2010, SDT, Scotland’s national contemporary dance company returns to Theatre at the Mill with a unique and powerful evening of dance, featuring 3 new works.

Pavlova’s Dogs
By Rachel Lopez de la Nieta (Dog Kennel Hill Project)

An experiment in watching dance inspired by Pavlov’s theory and the choreographer’s interest in the humour to be found in the absurdity of human behaviour. A series of tests, triggers and reinforcements will attempt to make the audience salivate…..

Lay Me Down Safe
By Kate Weare

A physical, authentic and tender foray into our human inexperience at reckoning with desire and loss. Drawing on the individuality of each dancer and offering up sensuous and arresting movement, the piece explores whether desire, the experience we follow like a moth to light, ultimately keeps us safe from harm, or places us right in its path.

‘There's no denying that this strong enigmatic piece reveals a talent to reckon with’ The Times

Drift
By James Wilton

Pushing the dancers to their physical limits, this powerful duet explores loneliness and closeness, absolute commitment and high risk trust. Sometimes the people we care about the most are the people we hurt the most.

A brooding and explosive work which delights audiences with its highly charged physicality, and the daring surprises the dancers throw at each other.

“Impressively powerful’ duet of exhilarating movement” Ballet.co.uk

Recommended Age: 12yrs+
Lay Me Down Safe contains some adult themes and some strong language in soundtrack
