Henry McCullough & Band
Henry McCullough from Portstewart honed his guitar playing on the Irish showband circuit of the 1960's. He was the only Irish musician to play at Woodstock in 1969 as lead guitarist with Joe Cocker and The Grease Band. Henry arranged and played the guitar parts on the original recording of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’. He found himself auditioning for a gig with ex-Beatle Paul McCartney. Henry, along with Denny Seiwell, Denny Laine and Linda McCartney were the first - and many say best incarnation of ‘Wings’. He embellished the single 'My Love' with a graceful solo that is one of the all-time guitar gems and shows once and for all the expressive power of the instrument.
His best-known track ‘Failed Christian’ has been covered by Nick Lowe, Dave Alvin and Christian band ‘Over The Rhine’. Henry McCullough is justifiably one of rock’s most legendary figures. Check him out live and be convinced for yourself.
